Changing the Dream:

The Pachamama Alliance comes to the Sanctuary

Cultivating Blessed Unrest

This past Sunday the Sanctuary hosted the Awakening the Dreaming Symposium - a powerful group meditation on the unsustainability of current human civilization. The symposium was created by the Pachamama Alliance, an organization which was arose when the Achuar tribe in Colombia reached out to activists in the United States to try and avoid the prophesied destruction of the world by their crazed brothers in the North.

The meditation invites us to share our pain about the state of the world and together, to intensify and focus our intentions and visions for a more harmonious existence – to change the dream.

The event was facilitated by Janice Le Conche and Mike Harris, close member and Board member of the Sanctuary, and Chris Robedee and Elaine Lengyel, regional representatives the Pachamama Alliance, and was cosponsored by the Earth Charter of the Lower Valley as well as our new partners at the Unitarian Universalist Church through Angie Swanger of their Social Responsibility Committee.

Involving group meditation, environmental education, interfaith envisioning (and yummy home-made falafels), the event also served to develop the network of organizations and partnerships working in southern Connecticut for sustainability and interfaith awareness - for a Greater Harmony.
